National Warranty Insurance Company Risk Retention Group ("the company"), unlike most insurance companies in the United States, is regulated by the laws of the Cayman Islands. On June 6, 2003, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands has appointed joint provisional liquidators to manage the company due to its financial difficulties. Currently, no claims are being paid. This prohibition on claim payment is pursuant to court order issued on June 20, 2003. As a result, the oversight of the Nebraska Department of Insurance is limited in terms of what it can do to assist in resolving claims against the company.
You may check the website of the company, www.NWIG.com for current information and legal actions regarding National Warranty as such information is released by the joint provisional liquidators. If you have a claim against the company, this Department suggests that you file written documentation of your claim with
National Warranty at
5201 "R" Street
Lincoln, Nebraska 68504
and that you retain a copy of what is filed for your records.
We can make no representation as to whether any claim will ultimately be paid, or how much will be paid. If you purchased your warranty from a dealer, we also suggest that you contact that dealer to see what assistance they are willing to provide.
