VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS
South Central Tries a New Approach
South Central Nebraska Regional Representative, Sharon Strong, has started a new approach to working with NICA Volunteers. Sharon invited 6-8 volunteers to the Area Agency on Aging for a "Work Morning." During the morning work session, the volunteers are encouraged to bring current cases and take new cases. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to work together and ask each other questions. Way to go, Sharon. What a great idea!
Diane White
Diane White, NICA Volunteer from the Northeast Region, spoke to 19 people at the Sunshine Senior Center in West Point. She gave an overview of the NICA program and its purpose and distributed packets of information. Thank you, Diane!

PRIZES
In our ongoing efforts to increase volunteer reporting, we are going to have a drawing for a second year. Every time you send in a Record of Counseling Form to your NICA Regional Representative, your name will be entered in the drawing. This means the more counseling and forms that you complete, the more chances you will have of getting your name drawn for a prize.
Some regions complete an abbreviated form that includes more than one counseling session on each Record of Counseling Form. If you complete this type of form, your name will be entered for as many people that were counseled.
The next drawing will be in September 2001. This gives you another full year to start sending in your Record of Counseling Forms for the time period of September 2000-September 2001.
Thirty-six prizes were given out at the NICA 2000 Update in Hastings on October 25, 2000. Some people were lucky enough to win more than one prize. That is the pay off for turning in many records of counseling. Just ask any of the following winners if they liked their winning prizes!!!
Congratulations
