Nebraska State Fair, August 25 - September 4
Your organization or group can get discount tickets to the Nebraska State Fair for August 28-31 (M-Th) before 4 p.m.Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31, will be "Older Nebraskans Day." The gate admission before 4 p.m. will be $2. For more information call 402-474-5371.
HEALTH FAIRS
The NICA Program Office is beginning to compile a list of health fairs held throughout Nebraska. We would like to be able to attend all the health fairs in our state and share our Medicare information, but we are not aware of many of the fairs. We are asking volunteers to please notify us of any health fairs in your areas. This will help a great deal with our list.Mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 for Older Nebraskans Day at the Nebraska State Fair. NICA and the Nebraska Department of Insurance will have a booth.
September 15 and 16 will be the PATCH (Planned Approach to Community Health) Fair at the Norfolk Lifelong Learning Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. In previous years, more than 2,000 people have attended this fair.
Traveling Medicare Information Booths Now Available
We now have our traveling Medicare Information Booths ready. They can be used at county fairs, health fairs, shopping malls or other exhibit opportunities. The booth includes a portable exhibit complete with brochures and NICA information. Your Regional Representative has the booth equipment for your use locally.Medicare & You Day
The Nebraska Medicare Beneficiary Coalition in conjunction with the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) is working to develop "Medicare & You Day." The date for the Day has been changed to October 26, 2000 (it was Oct. 25) to be in Hastings. In addition, HCFA has hired a contractor, Aspen, who will assist Nebraska with this event.At the last telephone conference call, HCFA offered to assist with development of promotional items for the day and with a phone bank.

Wellmark - Cahaba Transition
Wellmark's Medicare activities will be transitioned to Cahaba GBA (a division of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama). The effective date of the transition is June 1, 2000. There will be some technical changes that will occur. They are as follows:- Home Health: 515-471-7300
