Spring updates are in the planning stages. NICA will be holding all updates in the month of March. Please watch for a special mailing with information on locations, times and the agenda. If you have topics that you would like covered, please let your Regional Representative know so that we can incorporate that into the agenda.

NICA is also planning a special outreach opportunity for NICA Volunteers. The goal is to make contact with libraries and senior centers. NICA volunteers will be able to offer staff from the libraries and senior centers and those that use the facilities information on Medicare and related topics as well as how to obtain this information from the Internet. NICA will also provide information on 1-800 Medicare, Medicare & You publications and the Medicare website.

I will be inviting NICA Volunteers that are interested in this opportunity to join me in a special training in April to will review presentation techniques, approaching the senior center or library, topics to cover and materials and information that NICA can provide to local communities. This outreach meeting will be OPTIONAL for everyone. However, anyone that attends will be asked to give presentations to a variety of libraries and senior centers. Please keep in mind this project will start in April of 2002.

Watch your mail next month for your NICA Manual update. This is a huge update as the NICA office has rewritten many sections. It is important to have an updated manual. If you have fallen behind in updating your manual and need a new manual, please contact the program office.
