NICA Volunteer Update

NICA Volunteers are invited to the sixth annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and Update Training.

NICA News lists the agenda for the training on Page 2. The Empower Consumers of Health Care Organizations (ECHO) will provide a portion of the training at this update. ECHO's goal is to increase the involvement of older persons and the aging network in the effort to curb losses of Medicare and Medicaid dollars due to fraud and waste.

ECHO will train NICA Volunteers on the following:

  • Medicare Fraud and Waste
  • What is fraud?
  • Examples of fraud and waste
  • Reporting fraud and waste
  • Who receives the fraud report?
  • The complaint process
  • What can the beneficiary expect?

All NICA Volunteers are required to attend update trainings in order to keep current with new information. Let your Regional Representative know by May 1st if you are planning to attend. Your Regional Representative will reimburse you for your mileage.

The West Central Regional Training will be held March 21, from 11-3:30 at Stockman Inn, 1402 So. Jeffers St., North Platte.

The Northeast Regional Training will be held May 9, from 11-3:30 at Bailey's Restaurant, 1201 So. 13th St., Norfolk.

The Midland, Lincoln, and Blue Rivers Regional Training will be held May 14, 11-3:30 at Chances R Restaurant, 124 W. 5th St., York.

The South Central Regional Training will be held May 22, 11-3:30 at the Area Agency on Aging, 4623 2nd Ave., Suite 4, Kearney.
