VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS

NICA Volunteer Betty Stiles, from the Blue Rivers region, spent three hours at the Beatrice Senior Center, in November, meeting people and making them aware of the NICA program. She also had brochures available. Betty said seniors seem more comfortable asking questions if the volunteer is a familiar face.VIE - NICA Volunteers
Beginning in April, VIE volunteers in the Eastern Region, will begin NICA 2-day training sessions. The training with Tiffany Geis, the Seniors Program Coordinator, will cover all the basic information needed to become certified NICA volunteers. The training sessions are limited to 15 people and are scheduled for April 16 and 18, April 23 and 25, and April 30 and May 2.Health Fairs
NICA received "Medicare and You" water bottles with drink sippers from HCFA. If you are participating in a health fair or other event, please let us know. We will be glad to send you these bottles, as well as other promotional items.We have been keeping track of health fairs and similar community events around the state during each quarter. In May and June, we expect health fairs in Crete, Lincoln, Grand Island, Kearney and Fairbury. Please contact the NICA office if you know of similar fairs in other towns, or if you will be participating in these or other fairs in your areas.
