(For this newsletter greetings section I am reprinting part of a letter I sent out a few months ago.)
We have a one-time chance for NICA Volunteers to get involved in a new outreach opportunity.
The name of this outreach project is called Community Outreach. The goal is to reach out specifically to libraries and senior centers across Nebraska. NICA believes that there are many people that use senior centers and libraries that may not know about the services NICA can offer, including staff at these facilities. NICA would like to provide staff from the libraries and senior centers and those that use the facilities information on Medicare and related topics as well as how to obtain this information from the Internet.
NICA will be hosting an outreach retreat for all NICA Volunteers that are interested in participating with this project, on April 18th in Lincoln. During the retreat, volunteers will be given specialized training on presentation techniques, approaching their senior center or library, topics to cover during presentations and the materials and information NICA can provide to local communities. Everyone will leave the retreat with a plan of action, written presentation scripts, available brochure lists, tips on contacting libraries and senior centers as well as a complete list of libraries and senior centers in their region
This retreat is optional for all NICA Volunteers. If you have any questions please call Tiffany directly at (402) 471-4506.
