VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS

Jim Barry, Ruby Hays, & Monica Shelton
NICA Volunteers Ruby Hays, Jim Barry, and Monica Shelton gave a presentation on Medicare and Medicaid information to 15 professionals at the Central Nebraska Community Services Office in Grand Island. The group spoke on Medicare Fraud and Abuse, Medicare Supplement Insurance, and Medicaid.

In addition to the CNCS presentation, Ruby also gave a presentation to 50 Senior Center members in Kearney, and set up a display booth at the Kearney Public Library that will be an ongoing outreach effort to reach multiple audiences.

Joyce Mack
NICA Volunteer Joyce Mack reached 25 Medicare beneficiaries with her presentation at the Family Service Senior Center in Omaha.

Juanita Moore
Juanita, a NICA Volunteer from Omaha, gave a presentation on Medicare Fraud and Abuse to Medicare beneficiaries. She spoke to 18 attendees, mostly from underserved populations.

Jayne Prince
NICA Volunteer Jayne Prince gave five presentations in recent months! Jayne spoke to a total of over 175 persons during meetings in Atkinson, Spencer, Tekamah, Beemer, and Pierce in June and July. Jayne educated beneficiaries and their caregivers on Medicare and on Medicare Fraud and Abuse.

Betty Stiles
Betty Stiles in Beatrice has hit the trails to promote NICA and Medicare.gov awareness for the NICA Community Outreach Project. Betty is working with the libraries and senior centers in Beatrice and Wymore to offer Medicare reference materials to its patrons. Betty also has speaking engagements scheduled for September.

Diane White
NICA Volunteer Diane White has been busy the past few months. Diane gave presentations including information on Medicare, Medigap, prescription drug assistance, dual eligibility, and other NICA information to groups of over 20 people at Senior Centers in Bancroft and West Point. Diane also arranged so that the NICA informational flyer on drug company assistance programs would be included in a senior center newsletter that reaches 250 homes.
